Sir Steve Redgrave CBE
A lot of water has passed under the bridge for Sir Steve since winning his fifth gold medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Despite the earlier famous request to "shoot me if you see me in a boat again", Sydney marked the end of a long and extraordinary career in competitive sport.
Now off the water, Steve has a busy career working with commercial companies in a PR and promotional capacity at corporate events. Sir Steve is a very popular after dinner and motivational speaker and since retiring from rowing, he is busy with many new and diverse projects.
Steve won gold medals;
in 1984, in Los Angeles, in the Coxed Fours.
in 1988, in Seoul, in the Coxless Pairs with Andy Holmes.
in 1992, in Barcelona, in the Coxless Pairs with Matthew Pinsent.
in 1996, in Atlanta, again in the Coxless Pairs with Matthew Pinsent.
in 2000, in Sydney, in the Coxless Fours.
Steve has also won nine Rowing World Championship gold medals.
