Caroline Hamilton
For her the poles weren't too far apart.
Reaching the North Pole in 1997 and the South Pole in 2000, Caroline made history as the leader of the first British all-women teams to walk to both poles — the first trip, had a relay team of 20 women and the second expedition featured a team of five, after having travelled over 700 miles hauling sledges heavier than their own body weight in temperatures of minus
35°C they reached the South Pole over the millennium.
Virgin has published her book on the expedition, South Pole 2000.
