Clive Woodward
Clive's greatest joy is to share his experiences with people and to motivate them all through the way.
The turning point in the whole history of English Rugby came when Clive was appointed as the first full time professional coach. He brought professionalism to the game. Clive attended Loughborough University and graduated with a Sports Science degree and teaching qualification (PGCE). He played in the centre for Leicester and won 21 caps for England. He also toured twice with the British Lions. An exciting and elusive player, some have since said that even then he was ahead of his time.
His coaching career began soon after he finished playing in Sydney, Australia. This continued upon his return with Henley. Under Clive’s guidance, they gained three promotions in three successive seasons. He then coached London Irish and won them promotion to the Premiership. He went on to coach England U21s for three seasons (1994-97), and whilst coaching at Bath, he accepted the challenge to coach the England senior squad
Clive’s greatest joy is to share his experiences with people and to motivate them all through the way. With a pleasing personality such as his, he will pep you up, make steady your mind and focus your goals.
